Somatic Psychotherapy for Anxiety, Shame, Trauma, and Relationships
That anxiety, rumination, loneliness, or longing you feel doesn’t mean something is wrong with you.
It’s your own system calling you back into deeper connection — with your body, your authenticity, others and life itself.
My name is Kyle Vandenbroucke, and I offer somatic psychotherapy for people who are longing to feel more connected, grounded, and whole.
Many of the struggles that bring people to therapy — anxiety, shame, rumination, trauma, loneliness, relationship conflict, spiritual confusion — are often signs of disconnection.
Disconnection from yourself.
Disconnection from others.
Disconnection from the sacred.
In our work together, we begin to listen to what has been disconnected, defended, hidden, or alone — and support it in returning to relationship. Because healing does not happen in isolation. Healing happens when the parts of us that had to survive alone are finally met with presence, compassion, and care.
You may be doing your best to hold everything together while inside you feel anxious, overwhelmed, numb, lonely, or unsure of who you really are. You may find yourself caught in patterns you understand intellectually but still cannot seem to change. Rather than seeing these patterns as failures, we can begin to understand them as protective strategies — parts of you that adapted in order to survive, belong, or stay safe.
You might be struggling with:
Anxiety or chronic overwhelm
Rumination or obsessive thinking
Shame, self-criticism, or low self-worth
Trauma symptoms or emotional shutdown
Difficulty knowing what you feel or need
Relationship conflict or communication struggles
Loneliness, isolation, or difficulty receiving support
Spiritual crisis, religious trauma, or existential uncertainty
Psychedelic or mystical experiences that need integration
A longing for something deeper, truer, or more alive
These experiences can be painful, but they are not meaningless. Often, they are signals from the deeper self — invitations to return to a more honest, embodied, and connected way of living.
Three Pathways of Reconnection
My work centers around helping people return to healthy relationship in three essential dimensions:
Reconnecting With Yourself (Inward)
For anxiety, trauma, shame, rumination, dissociation, self-criticism, emotional overwhelm, and the longing to feel more grounded, whole, and authentic. This work helps you listen to your body, understand your nervous system, reconnect with hidden or exiled parts of yourself, and rebuild trust in your own inner knowing.
Reconnecting With Others (Outward)
For relationship pain, communication struggles, loneliness, attachment wounds, conflict, intimacy blocks, and patterns of self-abandonment or disconnection. This work helps you develop clearer boundaries, deeper communication, safer connection, and the ability to stay connected to yourself while in relationship with others.
Reconnecting With The Sacred (Upward)
For spiritual transition, religious trauma, existential crisis, mystical experience, psychedelic integration, and the longing for meaning, mystery, prayer, or divine connection. This work offers grounded support for integrating spiritual experience with psychological healing, embodiment, discernment, and everyday life.
My Approach
My approach is experiential, compassionate, and body-centered. This means we do not only talk about what is happening. We also pay attention to how it lives in your body, nervous system, emotions, relationships, and inner world. Often, the parts of us that need healing do not respond to insight alone. They need a new experience. They need to feel witnessed, protected, welcomed, understood, and met in a way they may not have been met before.
In sessions, we may work with somatic awareness, nervous system regulation, trauma processing, parts work, inner child work, memory reconsolidation, communication, boundaries, attachment patterns, spiritual integration, and Somatic Re-Parenting and even ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. The work is collaborative. We move at the pace of your system. Nothing has to be forced. You do not have to perform, impress, explain yourself perfectly, or already know what you need. We begin wherever you are.
A different way of understanding symptoms
Anxiety, shame, rumination, numbness, and relationship struggles are not simply problems to eliminate. They are often signs of disconnection. Anxiety may be a body asking for safety.
Shame may be a part of you that learned it had to hide.
Rumination may be an attempt to solve something that needs to be felt, grieved, or completed.
Dissociation may be a wise survival strategy that helped you endure what once felt overwhelming.
Conflict may reveal places where your needs, boundaries, or longings have not yet found a safe voice.
When we relate to symptoms this way, therapy becomes less about fixing what is wrong with you and more about listening to what is trying to return to wholeness.
If you resonate with my approach, let’s connect! Therapy can be a place where the parts of you that have felt alone, hidden, defended, or exiled are met with compassion and care. You do not have to figure it all out before beginning. We can start with what is present now: the anxiety, the longing, the confusion, the grief, the relationship pattern, the spiritual question, the body sensation, or the quiet sense that something in your life is ready to change. Healing begins when what has been alone no longer has to be alone.
